Review of UPS Dar Es Salaam (United Parcel Service)

1.0
More than Terrible it is horrendous nightmare Don't ever try to send by UPS if your final destination is Zanzibar because when the parcel reaches Dar es Salaam you will need to ferry or fly to Dar es salaam yourself to go and clear the duties .

Apart from duties Which you will pay the rate of Vehicle duty instead of a parcel duty you need to pay UPS agent ...handling fees even if it is one hour the parcel stays at the Airport not UPS and then you will need to pay HAND OVER FEES (this is another type of mysterious fee just to give you a packaging list to go to clear your parcel cost £25.00) Imagine
You live in Southampton and because your parcel travel via Scotland because it is all UK then an agent is calling you to travel to Scotland to clear your parcel which is less than 10 kg and nothing on it worthy the travelling cost.

So here is what will happen if you use UPS in Zanzibar ...

Ferry ticket ZNZ-DAR - Dar-ZNZ cost about £60-80.00) plus handling fee + handover fees + duties + inconvenience + transportation + Hotel+ time as you will need to sleep for one day)

I suggest use DHL or any Air cargo using Condor Air which does not travel to Dar es salaam if you want a piece of mind.

UPS Staff are very rude and not Professional they only give you a single reply which finishes with If you want pay if you don't want it is up to you.......

So paying UPS broker/Agent or Clear the goods by yourself it depends sometimes you can pay less by going yourself but totaling all the cost is better you pay the broker then wait at least another week until they find a normal person who travels between Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar to give him your parcel...
